OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director)
The OB Hospitalist Director, also known as the OB/GYN Site Director, is a key leadership position within the OB hospitalist clinical team, responsible for overseeing program operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care within the designated site. This role is vital for fostering a value-based culture that aligns with both organizational and hospital-specific clinical and operational objectives. The OB Hospitalist Director plays a central part in building and maintaining strong relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, administrative leadership, and fellow OB hospitalist clinicians, including physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs). By collaborating with Market Medical Directors (MMD), Medical Directors of Operations (MDO), and Vice Presidents of Clinical Operations (VPCO), the Site Director ensures that the OB hospitalist program consistently meets or exceeds established standards.
In addition to operational oversight, the OB Hospitalist Director is responsible for training and mentoring new clinicians, promoting adherence to clinical protocols, and effectively communicating policies and expectations to the team. The Site Director addresses and manages physician-related issues, escalating to senior leadership as necessary, and partners with both hospital and corporate leadership to identify and implement strategies for optimizing labor and delivery utilization. Regular on-site presence is required to address hospital and hospitalist operational priorities, ensuring that the clinical team operates within a framework of excellence and safety. This role offers a unique combination of clinical care and administrative leadership, providing opportunities for professional growth and impact within the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
The OB Hospitalist Director position requires participation in at least five 24-hour hospitalist shifts (or their equivalent) within each 28-day period, supporting the continuity and quality of care for obstetric patients. The employment package includes a comprehensive range of health, life, vision, and dental benefits, as well as a retirement plan with profit-sharing and Roth options. Malpractice coverage is provided, featuring unlimited tail coverage for lifetime protection. Continuing medical education is supported through an annual stipend, coverage of professional membership dues, certification maintenance, and reimbursement of relevant licensing fees. Eligibility for these benefits is tied to fulfillment of the required shift commitment.
This leadership opportunity is an ideal fit for board-certified OB/GYN physicians who are licensed to practice medicine in the relevant state and possess a strong ability to develop positive working relationships with various stakeholders. While significant experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred, all applicants should demonstrate a commitment to collaborative leadership and the advancement of high-quality obstetric care.
