The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) plays a vital leadership role within the hospital's obstetrics care team, driving the consistent delivery of high-quality maternal-fetal care. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a board-certified OB/GYN physician seeking to make a direct impact on both clinical outcomes and operational excellence within a dynamic, value-based healthcare environment. As the OB Hospitalist Director, you will oversee program operations, foster collaborative relationships with hospital medical and nursing staff, and serve as a key liaison between clinical teams and administrative leadership. This role offers the chance to mentor new clinicians, enforce evidence-based policies, and ensure that both the hospital and organizational goals for exceptional patient care are achieved.
Physicians in this leadership position report to senior clinical leadership such as the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations. Regular communication, strategic planning, and travel to the facility are essential to ensure operational priorities are met. The OB Hospitalist Director also trains and develops new clinicians, upholds clinical policies and procedures, and manages minor physician issues, collaborating with senior leaders as needed. This role is integral to enhancing Labor and Delivery utilization and maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.
OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) - Summary
- Lead and manage the OB Hospitalist program, ensuring delivery of high-quality maternal and neonatal care
- Foster a value-based culture that supports operational and clinical excellence
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hospital leadership regarding OB hospitalist matters
- Mentor, coach, and onboard new clinicians in the OB Hospitalist team
- Uphold the organization’s mission and standards for patient safety and satisfaction
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise daily OB hospitalist program operations to ensure the consistent delivery of evidence-based, quality care
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital medical and nursing staff, as well as administrative leadership
- Support and maintain strong communication with the OB Hospitalist physician and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) team
- Collaborate with the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, and Vice President of Clinical Operations to align clinical and operational goals
- Address hospital and hospitalist operational priorities through on-site presence as needed
- Train and develop new clinicians, instilling the values and standards of the organization
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations for the OB Hospitalist team
- Manage minor physician issues and escalate to appropriate leadership as necessary
- Work with hospital leadership and clinical directors to increase Labor and Delivery utilization and outcomes
- Maintain regular shift commitment—at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) shifts per 28-day period

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified OB/GYN Physician
- Eligible for or holding an active medical license in the state of assignment
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with hospital leadership, hospitalist teams, nurses, staff physicians, and organizational teams
- Demonstrated experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred
