The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) plays a pivotal leadership role within the OB Hospitalist clinical team, ensuring the delivery of quality, value-based obstetric care in a hospital setting. In this full-time position, the OB Hospitalist Director takes responsibility for program operations, clinician training, team engagement, and collaboration with hospital leadership to achieve both clinical excellence and operational objectives. This is a dynamic opportunity for a board-certified OB/GYN physician with strong leadership skills and a passion for advancing maternal health outcomes. Working closely with medical and administrative leadership, the OB Hospitalist Director is instrumental in shaping a high-performing, patient-centered labor and delivery environment.
As an OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director), you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the OB hospitalist program, building and maintaining key relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative leadership. Your leadership ensures program integrity and supports the development of the OB hospitalist team, including physicians and certified nurse-midwives (CNMs). The role requires collaborative engagement with the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, and/or Vice President of Clinical Operations, focusing on delivering a quality program that aligns with both organizational and hospital objectives. You will also be responsible for training new clinicians in value-based practices, enforcing clinical standards, managing physician concerns, and driving initiatives to optimize labor and delivery utilization.
This position requires at least five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts per 28-day period. The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) must be able to travel to the hospital as needed to address operational priorities and support team cohesion. OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Site Director) - Summary- Leadership role overseeing OB hospitalist program operations
- Responsible for clinical quality, staff engagement, and program development
- Serves as a key liaison between clinicians, hospital leadership, and administrative teams
- Ensures adherence to value-based care and organizational standards
- Oversee day-to-day OB hospitalist program operations to ensure high-quality obstetric care
- Build and maintain effective relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, and administrators
- Foster teamwork and communication within the OB hospitalist team, including physicians and CNMs
- Report to and collaborate with Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, and/or VP of Clinical Operations
- Ensure the clinical team meets both organizational and hospital clinical/operational goals
- Travel to the hospital as needed to address operational priorities and support staff needs
- Train and develop new clinicians in value-based care practices and organizational culture
- Communicate, implement, and enforce clinical policies and expectations
- Manage minor physician issues; escalate concerns as appropriate
- Work with leadership teams to identify and implement strategies for increasing labor and delivery service utilization
- Fulfill a minimum of five (5) 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts every 28 days

- Board Certified OB/GYN Physician
- Current license to practice medicine in the assigned site state
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships with hospital leadership, clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff
- Significant experience with obstetrical emergency care is preferred
- Experienced clinical leader with a background in OB/GYN hospital medicine
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to delivering value-based maternal care
- Willingness to mentor, train, and develop clinical teams
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve shared goals
