The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Hospitalist Director) plays a vital leadership role in overseeing and optimizing the OB Hospitalist program. As part of the OB Hospitalist clinical team, this position is focused on quality patient care, program operations, and the development of a value-based culture. The OB Hospitalist Director serves as a key liaison between hospital medical staff, nursing staff, administrative leadership, and the physician and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) OB Hospitalist team. Reporting directly to senior clinical leadership such as a Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations, the OB Hospitalist Director collaborates closely to implement objectives that align with both organizational and hospital goals.
This leadership position requires a blend of clinical expertise, operational acumen, and strong interpersonal skills to ensure seamless program delivery. The OB Hospitalist Director is tasked with program operations, building and maintaining critical relationships, ensuring adherence to clinical policies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and supporting both the onboarding and ongoing development of clinicians. The role includes on-site presence at the hospital as needed to address operational priorities and maintain the highest standards in patient care and team performance.
In this full-time role, the OB Hospitalist Director is expected to participate in clinical shifts, maintaining direct involvement in patient care, and ensuring that program objectives are consistently met. OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Hospitalist Director) – Summary
- Leads the OB Hospitalist program, ensuring quality and operational excellence.
- Serves as a liaison between clinical teams and hospital administration.
- Focuses on value-based care and continuous program improvement.
- Reports to senior clinical operations leadership.
- Participates in clinical shifts and direct patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee program operations to ensure delivery of quality obstetrical care.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing staff, administrative leadership, and the OB Hospitalist team.
- Collaborate with Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations to align clinical and operational objectives.
- Be present at the hospital as needed to address operational priorities.
- Train and mentor new clinicians in the value-based culture.
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Manage minor physician issues and escalate as appropriate.
- Identify and implement strategies to increase hospital labor and delivery utilization.
- Participate in a minimum of five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts per 28-day period.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified OB/GYN Physician required.
