OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN Hospital Medicine Director) - Summary
As an OB Hospitalist Director, you will oversee program operations for an established OB hospitalist clinical team. You will be responsible for ensuring quality care is consistently delivered, managing relationships with hospital staff and administrative leadership, and collaborating closely with regional and corporate directors. The role involves hands-on program oversight, leadership of clinical teams, ongoing clinician training, and helping shape the direction of obstetric hospitalist services. This position is designed for physicians who are passionate about both patient care and organizational leadership within OB hospital medicine.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the OB hospitalist program to ensure delivery of high-quality obstetric care.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative leadership.
- Act as the key liaison between the OB/GYN hospitalist team, including physicians and certified nurse midwives, and hospital administrators.
- Report directly to the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations.
- Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership to align clinical and operational objectives with hospital goals.
- Travel to the hospital as needed to address urgent operational or clinical priorities.
- Mentor, train, and support the onboarding of new clinicians, instilling value-based care principles and clinical best practices.
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations to maintain a high standard of care.
- Manage minor physician and clinician issues, escalating to appropriate leadership as necessary.
- Work with leadership teams to identify and implement strategies to increase labor and delivery service utilization.
- Regularly provide leadership coverage, including a minimum of five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts per 28-day period.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) required.
- Active medical license in the state of the assigned hospital site.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong rapport and positive working relationships with hospital leadership, clinical teams, nursing staff, and corporate stakeholders.
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills essential for program oversight and team management.
