OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN)
The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) plays a pivotal leadership and clinical role within the hospital's obstetric care team. This position is responsible for overseeing the operational and clinical aspects of the OB hospitalist program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based obstetric care while fostering a value-based culture. The director collaborates closely with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, administrative leaders, and the OB hospitalist team—including physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)—to support optimal patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
As an OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN), you will act as a key liaison between the hospital and the OB hospitalist group, maintaining open communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders. This role includes oversight of program operations, training and development of clinical staff, enforcement of clinical policies, and advocating for continuous improvement in labor and delivery services. Reporting to senior medical leadership, the director is empowered to address operational issues, mentor new clinicians in value-based care practices, and ensure compliance with both organizational and hospital goals.
In this role, you will be required to commit to a minimum of five 24-hour (or equivalent) OB hospitalist shifts within each 28-day period, ensuring a strong clinical presence and setting a standard for clinical excellence. The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) is expected to be adaptable, highly relational, and skilled at fostering collaboration among diverse teams. You will also play an integral part in identifying and implementing strategies to increase labor and delivery utilization, contributing to the hospital's overall growth and success.
Applicants must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and hold a current license to practice medicine in the state of the assigned site. Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred.
