The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) serves as a key clinical leader, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and operational excellence within an OB Hospitalist program. This pivotal position requires a board-certified OB/GYN physician who excels at fostering teamwork, supporting clinical staff, and optimizing care delivery in a hospital setting. The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) is responsible for program operations, clinician development, and collaboration with various hospital stakeholders to meet both organizational and hospital goals.
As an OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN), you will play a central role in overseeing the program's operational functions to ensure consistent, evidence-based care for patients. The role requires engagement with the hospital medical staff, nursing teams, administrative leadership, and the OB hospitalist clinical team. The OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) is also responsible for enforcing clinical protocols, supporting value-based care initiatives, and facilitating ongoing clinician training and professional development. This position reports to the Market Medical Director, Medical Director of Operations, or Vice President of Clinical Operations and requires a collaborative approach to achieve shared objectives. Occasional travel to the hospital site is required to address operational needs and maintain effective relationships.

OB Hospitalist Director (OB/GYN) - Summary

- Oversees program operations, clinician performance, and care quality
- Acts as key liaison between clinical teams and hospital administration

- Reports to senior clinical and operational leadership
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise program operations to ensure the delivery of quality OB hospitalist care
- Build and maintain effective relationships with hospital medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative leadership
- Support and mentor OB hospitalist physicians, certified nurse midwives, and clinical staff
- Collaborate with leadership to achieve clinical and operational goals
- Train and develop new clinicians in value-based care practices
- Communicate and enforce clinical policies, procedures, and expectations
- Manage minor physician issues and escalate as needed
- Identify opportunities to enhance labor and delivery utilization in partnership with partners
- Travel to hospital locations as needed for operational priorities
- Commit to a minimum of five 24-hour shifts (or equivalent) per 28-day period

Qualifications & Requirements
- Board Certified OB/GYN Physician (MD/DO)
- Active medical license in the state of assignment
- Demonstrated relational skills to build strong rapport across clinical and administrative teams
- Significant experience in obstetrical emergency care is preferred
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence
