The OB/GYN Hospitalist (OBGYN) serves as a consistent presence within the hospital, delivering specialized care to patients presenting with obstetric or gynecologic needs, particularly those who arrive under unassigned call or require urgent attention. This position is structured for full-time coverage with rotating 12-hour shifts in a 7-on, 7-off schedule, ensuring optimal patient care and provider work-life balance.
As an OB/GYN Hospitalist (OBGYN), you will be integral to the effective functioning of the OB ED, which experiences an average of 250 patient encounters monthly and supports a thriving Labor & Delivery unit with approximately 2,000 deliveries annually. The hospital boasts a Level III NICU located conveniently below the unit and offers 24/7 dedicated OB anesthesia support. The environment is collaborative, with an emphasis on patient safety, team communication, and high-quality outcomes. You will have the opportunity to facilitate safety rounds, participate in quarterly safety drills, and respond to emergent situations involving obstetric or gynecologic patients throughout the facility.

OB/GYN Hospitalist (OBGYN) - Summary- Hospital-based physician role providing 24/7 in-house coverage for OB ED and Labor & Delivery units
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care
- Engages in safety rounds and emergency response activities
- Works in a high-volume environment with a Level III NICU and dedicated OB anesthesia
- Provide immediate response to all patients presenting to the OB ED and Labor & Delivery, especially those under unassigned call
- Respond to main Emergency Department consultations for gynecologic or obstetric concerns under 20 weeks gestation
- Manage and respond to OB emergencies, traumas, and high-acuity cases throughout the hospital
- Facilitate safety rounds during each shift in collaboration with the L&D Patient Care Supervisor
- Participate in quarterly safety drills with the OB leadership team
- Assist private physicians during emergencies or upon request, ensuring seamless continuity of care
- Support and promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and open communication among staff

- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Valid and unrestricted medical license
- Experience in high-risk obstetrics or comparable high-volume delivery settings (2,000+ annual deliveries preferred)
- Strong clinical skills in managing vaginal, VBAC, and cesarean deliveries (current C-section rate: 27%)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care and safety
- Highly skilled OB/GYN physician with experience in high-risk obstetrics
- Flexible and adaptable to dynamic hospital settings
