Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Inpatient Summary
- Deliver direct patient care within the scope of Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice, focusing on inpatient specialty areas.
- Act as a clinical expert, providing consultation, education, and support to both patients and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Engage in professional development activities and maintain program standards to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Contribute to operational efficiency and departmental budget goals through judicious use of resources.
- Demonstrate a commitment to compliance, ethical conduct, and continuous process improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess patient health status by obtaining comprehensive medical histories and performing detailed physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures in accordance with patient needs.
- Use clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to synthesize data, formulate differential diagnoses, and make accurate clinical decisions.
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans utilizing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Provide patient education and counseling to promote understanding, adherence, and wellness.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, multidisciplinary care delivery.
- Document all aspects of patient care in compliance with hospital and clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in hospital and clinic quality assurance and improvement activities as required.
- Operate efficiently within hospital and clinic resource guidelines to meet organizational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with professional evaluations, standardized procedures, and all relevant policies and protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and organizational goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure.
- Current Nurse Practitioner Furnishing (NPF) license from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
- Board certification or board eligibility as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) by a nationally accredited organization (such as ACGNP, FNP) in a relevant population focus.
- Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate for controlled substances (Schedules II-V).
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) registration.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Active Controlled Substances Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) registration under the California Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).
- Preferred: Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in acute or ambulatory settings, particularly in general surgery or palliative care specialties.
