As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) – General Surgery, you will utilize your advanced clinical training to assess, diagnose, and manage patients across the spectrum of surgical needs. Your responsibilities will span conducting detailed assessments, interpreting diagnostic results, collaborating on treatment plans, performing minor procedures, and participating in educational initiatives for both patients and healthcare staff. Nurse Practitioner (NP) – General Surgery Summary
- Deliver comprehensive clinical care for surgical and trauma patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and protocols.
- Engage in educational initiatives for patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Contribute to the improvement of clinical care quality through participation in performance improvement programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient histories, assessments, and physical exams for surgical and trauma patients.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic test results, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Perform minor procedures within scope of practice in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, registered nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Monitor laboratory and radiology studies, manage results, and coordinate follow-up care.
- Participate in the evaluation and treatment of trauma cases, including those in emergency settings.
- Assist with medication management, discharge planning, and patient education on pain management and postoperative care.
- Document all clinical encounters, treatment plans, and care coordination activities in accordance with nursing standards.
- Mentor and support nursing staff, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence.
- Support and participate in clinical rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and continuing education opportunities.
- Assist with implementation of performance improvement programs, including trauma and surgical outcomes analysis.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, privacy standards, and professional ethics at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (NPP).
- Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by ANCC, AANP, or specialty-appropriate national certifying body.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in medical and surgical settings, with strong knowledge of preoperative and postoperative care.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
