The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages, including pediatrics (acute care only), adults, and geriatric populations. Functioning independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) delivers acute, chronic, and preventive care, often managing complex patient cases even when the supervising physician is not present in the clinic. This full-time position is based in Arkansas and offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare environment, including the provision of telehealth services to meet the needs of patients remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform age-appropriate history taking and physical examinations for patients with acute, chronic, or complex medical conditions across the lifespan, including independently when necessary.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, while consulting with the supervising physician for all Schedule III prescription medications as required by regulation.
- Deliver patient care to individuals of all ages, with acute care provided to pediatric patients.
- Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and their families regarding presenting health issues, treatment plans, home care instructions, and the adoption of positive health behaviors.
- Request consultations or referrals as needed with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapy services, home health providers, and specialty clinics to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide care through telehealth platforms to expand access to healthcare and continuity of care for patients in Arkansas.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations encompassing medical history, physical exams, acute care interventions, and ongoing management for continuity of care.
- Establish reasonable, evidence-based medical diagnoses based on patient assessments and clinical judgment.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, radiology, diagnostic procedures, and other imaging studies as indicated by patient condition.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), adhering to medical record documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate competency in decision-making during emergent medical situations, ensuring patient safety and effective care delivery.
- Participate in chart reviews, staff education, continuing education, and quality assurance initiatives to maintain compliance with healthcare standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with all patient confidentiality and privacy regulations, upholding the highest standards of ethical and legal conduct.
- Advocate for patient rights and promote a patient-centered approach to care at all times.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license (NP) in the state of Arkansas.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Arkansas.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a supervising physician to address acute and long-term health needs of patients.
- Current with all continuing education requirements, including certifications in adult and pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday through Friday.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to two years of relevant experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Marshallese.
- Experience in geriatric care and managing complex healthcare needs of older adults.
- Experience with administering immunizations and injections.
- Proficiency in performing EKGs and minor surgical procedures.
