Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery (NP, APRN) Summary
- Manage and coordinate patient care for individuals undergoing cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Utilize advanced clinical knowledge in both cardiology and surgical care
- Participate in all phases of patient care, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative management
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare providers to deliver integrated, patient-centered care
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including health history and physical examinations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for cardiothoracic surgery patients
- Perform and interpret diagnostic testing within scope of practice
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures as needed
- Monitor patients’ progress and provide postoperative care, including wound management, medication management, and patient education
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that all care adheres to established protocols and best practices
- Document all patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
- Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in a relevant specialty (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in cardiology and/or cardiothoracic surgery preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
