Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic ICU (NP, CTICU Nocturnist) Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams and review of diagnostic studies
- Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and imaging studies as indicated
- Initiate, adjust, and monitor cardiothoracic and critical care therapies in collaboration with attending physicians
- Provide rapid response to changes in patient status and participate in emergency interventions as needed
- Document evaluations, plans of care, and clinical progress in the electronic health record in a timely and accurate manner
- Educate patients and families about care plans, procedures, and post-operative expectations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols to enhance patient outcomes
- Engage in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive care
- Support and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals within the unit

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in good standing
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or equivalent required
- Experience in critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, or ICU setting strongly preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster collaboration among interdisciplinary teams
