NICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Support the mission of Decypher and the Defense Health Agency in serving service members, veterans, and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver comprehensive, age-specific care to neonatal patients with critical conditions.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Adhere to established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct physical exams, health histories, and monitor patient progress.
- Administer medications, wound care, and other medical interventions as prescribed.
- Facilitate health education, counseling, and promotion for patients and families.
- Make appropriate referrals and arrange specialty care as needed.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues dealing with complex patient care issues.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitative measures as a member of the Neonatal Resuscitation Team.
- Utilize and assist with specialized equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, SIPAP, and other respiratory support devices.
- Monitor IV fluids, blood products, and perform neonatal catheter care.
- Perform basic infant care procedures, including feeding, hygiene, and positioning.
- Support breastfeeding mothers and assist with feeding protocols as required.
- Participate in the development and updating of patient care plans.
- Demonstrate quick response to adverse signs and symptoms, acting decisively in emergencies.
- Engage in research activities aimed at improving clinical practices and outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited institution (ACEN or CCNE).
- Current, unrestricted RN license in any US state or territory.
- At least one year of recent nursing experience in a NICU setting.
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider-Advanced (NRP), and STABLE.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
