The NICU Charge Nurse RN will work a consistent schedule, typically comprising three 12-hour shifts per week. NICU Charge Nurse RN - Summary
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision within the neonatal intensive care unit.
- Ensure the highest standards of patient care, safety, and quality are maintained at all times.
- Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff in the delivery of evidence-based neonatal care.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and patient flow within the NICU during assigned shifts.
- Supervise and support nursing staff, delegating tasks and assignments appropriately.
- Provide expert clinical care to neonates, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and coordinate rapid response efforts.
- Monitor compliance with infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols.
- Facilitate communication between nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary departments.
- Participate in staff education, orientation, and performance evaluations.
- Document all care provided in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Serve as a resource for problem-solving and conflict resolution within the unit.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active and unrestricted RN license.
- Significant, recent clinical experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a charge nurse or supervisory capacity.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
