Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Provides expert support to neurosurgeons and other healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurological patients.
- Participates in all phases of patient care, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management.
- Acts as a key liaison between patients, families, and the care team, ensuring clear communication and education throughout the patient journey.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physicals, focusing on neurological assessment.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory studies relevant to neurosurgical patients.
- Assist neurosurgeons in the operating room, providing intraoperative support such as tissue handling, wound closure, and surgical site management.
- Develop and implement patient care plans in consultation with neurosurgeons and multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and manage post-operative recovery, including wound care, pain management, and early detection of complications.
- Participate in patient education regarding diagnosis, procedures, post-operative expectations, and recovery plans.
- Document all patient encounters, assessments, and interventions using the electronic medical record in compliance with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and allied health professionals to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in departmental meetings as required.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license (PA-C) in the applicable state.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Previous experience in neurosurgery, surgery, or a related specialty preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
