Neurosurgery ICU Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Provide expert care for critically ill neurosurgical patients in the intensive care unit
- Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, intensivists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
- Utilize advanced clinical skills to deliver patient assessments and interventions
- Ensure seamless transitions of care and continuity throughout the patient’s ICU stay
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of neurosurgical and critical care protocols
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including neurological and critical care assessments
- Implement and manage neurosurgical and critical care treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatments as necessary
- Perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, line placements, and wound care as credentialed
- Document patient care activities and communicate changes in condition to the care team and family members
- Participate in daily rounds and interdisciplinary meetings
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and post-ICU care
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts in the neurosurgical ICU setting
- Support the training and mentorship of new staff and students as appropriate

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current and valid NP or PA-C licensure and board certification
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- Prior clinical experience in neurosurgery, critical care, or intensive care preferred
