The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily rounds on all service patients, documenting consult notes, and providing expert 24/7 coverage for the neurocritical care unit. In this crucial locum tenens role, the physician will be required to manage a patient load of 10 to 20 patients per day, working closely with a team of experienced APPs who offer continuous onsite support. You will be onsite for a portion of the day, remaining available by phone for consultation and providing callback coverage as needed for emergent situations.
The position requires proficiency in essential bedside procedures, including central venous catheter (CVC) placement, arterial catheterization, and lumbar puncture. The ideal schedule for the Neurocritical Care Physician (Neuro ICU) is a 7-day block every three weeks, running from Monday 8am to the following Monday 8am. This allows for a balanced work-life rhythm while delivering uninterrupted, high-quality care for critically ill neurological patients.
Candidates must hold an active and unrestricted New Jersey medical license at the time of application and have a clean credentialing file to facilitate a swift onboarding process. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Neurocritical Care is required, with completion of fellowship training and certification through ABPN, UCNS, and/or CAST.
