We are seeking a dedicated Neurocritical Care Physician (Neuro ICU Intensivist) for a rewarding locum assignment at a leading healthcare facility in New Jersey. In this full-time opportunity, you will play an integral role in delivering expert neurocritical care to patients in a 15-bed neurocritical care unit. As a Neurocritical Care Physician, you will provide comprehensive patient management, collaborate with an experienced team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and ensure continuous, high-quality care for critically ill neurological patients.
As part of a multidisciplinary adult Level 1 Trauma Center, you will oversee patient care in the neurocritical care unit, while trauma patients are primarily managed in the dedicated Trauma/Surgical ICU. Your expertise as a Neurocritical Care Physician (Neuro ICU Intensivist) will be pivotal as you round daily on all service patients, lead consults, supervise APPs providing 24/7 coverage, and perform key bedside procedures. Neurocritical Care Physician (Neuro ICU Intensivist) - Summary
- Provide expert neurocritical care to adults in a 15-bed neurocritical care unit
- Supervise and support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) offering 24/7 patient coverage
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary Level 1 Trauma Center
- Engage in a collaborative, patient-centered healthcare environment
Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily rounding on all neurocritical care patients to assess and optimize care plans
- Supervision and clinical oversight of APPs providing 24/7 coverage in the neuro ICU
- Writing consult notes and documenting patient progress in the EPIC EMR system
- Available on-site for a portion of each day and by phone thereafter, with callback in urgent cases
- Performing essential bedside procedures including central venous catheter (CVC) placement, arterial catheterization, and lumbar puncture
- Managing a patient load of 10-20 patients per day, ensuring individualized, high-quality care
- Ensuring compliance with hospital protocols, safety regulations, and documentation standards
- Participating in multidisciplinary team discussions and contributing to quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements
- MD or DO degree with active, unrestricted medical license
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Neurocritical Care through ABPN, UCNS, or CAST
- Completion of fellowship training in Neurocritical Care
- Proficiency in bedside procedures such as CVC placement, arterial catheterization, and lumbar puncture
- Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
- Demonstrated ability to supervise APPs and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and decision-making skills
