As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – NICU, you will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to excellence in neonatal medicine. This role is ideal for candidates with direct NICU experience or those who have completed a NICU PA fellowship, offering a significant platform for professional growth and skill development. Within this 48-bed unit, you will encounter a diverse patient population, averaging 40 to 41 neonates daily and supporting approximately 5,000 to 5,500 deliveries each year. The fast-paced environment and high patient volume provide unparalleled exposure to a variety of clinical cases, fostering both learning and advancement in neonatal care.
Joining this NICU team means working closely with a group of experienced professionals, including attending neonatologists, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, residents, and fellows. Day shifts offer the opportunity to collaborate with three attendings, two to three advanced practice providers, two residents, and one or two fellows. During night shifts, you will continue to benefit from the guidance and support of a neonatal fellow and attending physician. This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive and safe patient care while allowing for continuous mentorship and support.
In this role, you will participate in a wide range of clinical responsibilities, from admissions and initial evaluations to ongoing management of neonates referred from labor and delivery, the nursery, and regional hospitals. Your expertise will be essential in the delivery room, where you will help determine which infants require NICU admission. Additionally, you will actively engage in neonatal transports with the support of experienced team members, enhancing your skills in critical care and emergency scenarios.
