The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) plays a vital role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to neonates in an inpatient hospital environment. As a key member of the healthcare team, the NNP is responsible for caring for newborns with varying degrees of medical complexity, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. The NNP works a combination of day, night, and occasional 24-hour shifts, contributing to excellent patient care during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. With increasing demand for skilled neonatal care, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, supportive setting.

This is a full-time opportunity, requiring approximately 24 shifts per month, generally structured as three 12-hour shifts per week. The role is suited for those who thrive in dynamic hospital settings and are committed to delivering evidence-based neonatal care. The hospital utilizes an advanced electronic medical record system (Epic), supported by voice recognition technology to streamline documentation and enhance workflow efficiency. Travel expenses are covered by the hospital, and the credentialing process is typically completed within 30 to 60 days. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be supported by a team of Medical Assistants (MAs) and Registered Nurses (RNs), fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient safety and quality care.

Daily patient census varies by shift, with day shifts typically involving 5 to 7 patients and night shifts seeing 18 to 20 patients. The NNP is responsible for a broad range of clinical duties, including obtaining and documenting patient history, conducting discharge examinations, and writing orders within the scope of their advanced practice training and licensure. Candidates are required to hold current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Preference is given to those with experience in a level 4 ECMO surgical unit, though ECMO experience is not mandatory. Board Certification through the National Certification Corporation (NCC) for NPs and relevant surgical NICU experience are also required.

Working as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in this hospital means joining a dedicated team focused on delivering the highest standards of neonatal care.
