Candidates must demonstrate expertise in neonatal intensive care, with a strong background in surgical and ECMO-exposed settings preferred. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) will be responsible for direct patient management, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and procedural interventions under established protocols and in close collaboration with attending neonatologists.
The schedule for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) includes both day and night shifts, with some 24-hour coverage required. Shifts are comprised of three 12-hour rotations per week, covering weekdays, weekends, and holidays, providing a balance of flexibility and continuity of care. The average patient load for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is approximately 5-7 patients per shift during the day and 18-20 at night. This assignment is set to begin in January 2026 and will last for at least one year, with the potential for extension depending on organizational needs and provider performance.
Applicants for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) role must hold an active, unrestricted board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. While an active Utah State License is preferred, candidates with the ability to obtain licensure promptly will also be considered. Experience in a Level 4 NICU or equivalent high-acuity neonatal environment is essential, and those with ECMO exposure will be strongly preferred. Up-to-date life support certifications are required to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and care.
