Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) - Summary- Provide advanced clinical care to newborns in a neonatal intensive care setting
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Utilize evidence-based practice to ensure optimal neonatal outcomes
- Support families through the challenges and complexities of neonatal care
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of neonatal patients, including physical examinations and diagnostic interpretations
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for neonates
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests relevant to neonatal care
- Initiate and manage appropriate therapeutic interventions, including medications, respiratory support, and nutritional therapy
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate and support families regarding their infant’s condition, care requirements, and prognosis
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education in neonatology
- Document all patient care activities accurately and comprehensively in medical records
