Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Job Type: Locum
Company: Palm Careers
Category: Healthcare
Palm Health Resources is seeking dedicated and experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) to join a high-acuity, Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Eastern Pennsylvania. This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing advanced care to neonates and participating in both ground and air transport operations. The employment type for this position is contract, offering a 12-month term with the potential for extension based on performance and departmental needs.
As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), you will play a critical role in the multidisciplinary team, working closely with attending physicians, medical fellows, advanced practice providers (APPs), and residents. The NICU operates with two teams during the day, each consisting of an attending physician, medical fellows, APPs, and residents. Daytime shifts are structured to maintain optimal coverage with up to six APPs, while night and weekend shifts maintain a robust team of attending physicians and mid-level providers. The collaborative approach ensures comprehensive care for patients and fosters professional development for all team members.
This contract position requires flexibility in scheduling, with shifts offered throughout the week, including options for 16-hour, 24-hour, and traditional 8-12 hour shifts. To ensure provider well-being, a provider fatigue policy mandates a full day off after working extended shifts. The NNP will be responsible for attending high-risk deliveries, performing advanced procedures, and actively participating in patient transport operations. All candidates will complete a structured transport training program, including online modules and in-person sessions with the Life Lion team to ensure safety and competency in transport scenarios.
The NICU environment is fast-paced and supportive, offering state-of-the-art resources for neonatal care, including advanced ventilator management, cooling therapy, and stabilization of critically ill neonates. The team values autonomy and professional growth, providing ongoing training opportunities and fostering a family-like atmosphere for all staff, including contract employees.
The location in Eastern Pennsylvania offers a vibrant community, with access to cultural, recreational, and educational amenities. This is a contract position, and candidates do not need to hold a Pennsylvania license at the time of application, though preference is given to those who do. Support is available for licensing, which typically takes 3-4 months to obtain.
