MRI Technologist (ARRT, MR) - Summary
- Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and diagnostic radiography equipment proficiently and safely.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images with minimal need for repeat scans.
- Conduct a variety of imaging exams daily, managing multiple room assignments and adapting to clinic needs.
- Uphold compliance with all regulatory, organizational, and safety standards for imaging procedures.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- May require cross-training in additional imaging modalities as directed by the Director of Imaging.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate all MR-related equipment, including scanners, coils/arrays, power injectors, and monitoring devices.
- Administer contrast agents after thorough evaluation of patient history and lab values, ensuring patient safety.
- Screen patients for contraindications such as indwelling metal or sensitivity to contrast media.
- Authenticate physician orders and maintain comprehensive records of all imaging exams performed.
- Document exam information in the Radiology Information System, accurately noting times, technologist names, and supply usage.
- Perform routine quality assurance on imaging equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, ensuring functionality and safety.
- Participate in modality accreditation processes and on-call rotation for MRI services as needed.
- Demonstrate awareness of patient rights and maintain sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients and family members.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with all patients, providing detailed instructions and addressing concerns throughout imaging procedures.
- Perform emergency procedures and utilize personal protective equipment to safeguard against potential hazards.
- Collaborate with supervisors, imaging managers, and the Director of Imaging on additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology training program accredited by the American Medical Association (AMA).
- Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in both Radiography (R) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with American Heart Association preferred.
- Minimum of two years of post-graduation experience in a major hospital setting is preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing education, with at least 24 hours of continuing education every two years to remain in compliance with ARRT requirements.
