In this position, the Monitoring Automation Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development, implementation, and support of monitoring dashboards, alert systems, and service level objective (SLO) and service level agreement (SLA) reporting, primarily leveraging industry-standard platforms such as Dynatrace. The role also encompasses the design and execution of automated workflows using tools including Ansible, Terraform, and ServiceNow, ensuring seamless processes and integrations across diverse IT environments.
The Monitoring Automation Engineer plays a strategic part in integrating telemetry and logging standards, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure data is efficiently captured, analyzed, and used to drive continuous improvement. Utilizing advanced AI and machine learning features within observability platforms, the Monitoring Automation Engineer enhances alert accuracy, supports root cause analysis, and contributes to the organization's proactive incident response practices. Engaging in after-action reviews and system enhancements, the Monitoring Automation Engineer is instrumental in optimizing reliability and performance.
Applicants for the Monitoring Automation Engineer position should possess at least three years of experience within IT infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), with a strong focus on monitoring and automation. Proficiency with leading observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or Grafana is essential, as is expertise in scripting languages, including Python, PowerShell, or Bash. A solid understanding of telemetry concepts—covering logs, metrics, traces, and events—is required to effectively monitor and improve complex systems. Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and on-premises solutions, is also necessary to succeed in this role.
