Mohs Histotechnician (HT, HTL, ASCP) – Summary- Full-time role in a busy dermatology practice
- Responsible for all Mohs laboratory operations and tissue processing
- Work closely with Mohs surgeons and clinical staff
- Opportunity to take ownership of laboratory quality and compliance
- Position located in the vibrant Huntsville, AL area
- Process, embed, cut, and stain frozen tissue specimens using microtomy and H&E staining techniques
- Prepare slides rapidly and accurately during live Mohs surgery
- Perform all quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures
- Maintain CLIA compliance and manage regulatory documentation
- Keep specimen logs, temperature records, and supply inventories current and organized
- Set up and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies for Mohs procedures
- Assist Mohs surgeons during procedures with prep, scribing, and patient flow as needed
- Support daily clinical operations as a key member of the clinical team

- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in laboratory science or completion of college-level biology/chemistry coursework preferred
- Certification: HT (ASCP), HTL (ASCP), or Mohs Technician Certificate preferred but not required
- BLS certification is a plus
- Prior Mohs laboratory experience required, including independent case cutting (10+ cases/day)
- Demonstrated knowledge of histology and tissue processing
- Experience with QA/QC processes and CLIA compliance
- Strong attention to detail, visual acuity, and manual dexterity
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experienced Mohs Histotechnician (HT, HTL, ASCP) with a proven track record in busy Mohs laboratories
- Comfortable working independently and managing laboratory operations
- Skilled in tissue processing, slide preparation, and regulatory compliance
