MEP Superintendent - Summary
The MEP Superintendent is responsible for managing all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems installation on major commercial construction projects. This role requires strong coordination skills, leadership capabilities, and technical expertise to guide complex projects from inception through commissioning. On a daily basis, the MEP Superintendent ensures that all MEP work is executed according to project plans, adheres to schedule milestones, and meets stringent quality and safety benchmarks. This position offers the chance to work on landmark projects, making a significant impact on both the construction team and the end users of the facility.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily field operations for all MEP trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and controls.
- Coordinate installation activities among MEP subcontractors, the general superintendent, the project management team, and design consultants to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Lead MEP coordination meetings, facilitating the resolution of design conflicts and constructability issues as they arise.
- Monitor installation progress, ensuring that work aligns with the project schedule, sequencing, and established milestones.
- Ensure that all systems are installed in strict accordance with project plans, specifications, and code requirements, maintaining a focus on quality control throughout the process.
- Manage inspections, testing, startup, and commissioning for all MEP systems, ensuring proper documentation and system performance.
- Review and coordinate RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and change orders related to MEP scopes, maintaining thorough records and clear communication.
- Identify and mitigate field conflicts early to maintain productivity and prevent schedule delays.
- Maintain strict adherence to jobsite safety protocols and quality standards, promoting a culture of safety among all trades on site.
- Support project closeout processes, including punch list completion, commissioning documentation, and final turnover of MEP systems.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in an MEP Superintendent or MEP Field Leader role.
- Demonstrated experience on large-scale projects ($100M+), such as arenas, hospitality and resort developments, casinos, convention centers, or large commercial/mixed-use buildings.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and integrated building systems.
- Proven track record coordinating multiple MEP subcontractors in a fast-paced, complex construction environment.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and BIM coordination models.
- Experience supporting commissioning and system startup processes for large projects.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
