MEP Senior Project Manager Job Overview
The MEP Senior Project Manager (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Senior Project Manager) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding construction projects that involve HVAC, plumbing, and process systems. This full-time position in Denver, CO is responsible for both client relationship management and the execution of project deliverables, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main representative to clients throughout all phases of MEP construction projects, ensuring customer satisfaction and successful project delivery.
- Manage all aspects of project management, from initial sales and concept engineering through estimating, proposal development, project execution, and closeout.
- Oversee contract administration, including sales negotiation, procurement, cost estimation, and project execution to align with company standards and client expectations.
- Coordinate field labor needs and installation sequencing in collaboration with field leadership to optimize productivity and safety on job sites.
- Forecast budgets, control project costs within defined parameters, and ensure financial targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review documentation such as proposals, contracts, change orders, memos, and strategic communications to ensure legal compliance and effective business operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal departments and external stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners.
- Lead client meetings, facilitate contract negotiations, and uphold positive client relationships to foster repeat business and ongoing partnerships.
- Provide mentorship to Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, supporting their professional growth through coaching, training, and active participation in recruiting and onboarding efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams across engineering, purchasing, accounting, construction, and service departments to ensure seamless project progress and timely completion.
- Participate in special studies, committees, and initiatives to advance the organization's technical capabilities and improve project planning and installation procedures.
- Attend project management, sales, and construction meetings, and coordinate pre-construction meetings with department heads and supervisors.
- Actively contribute to the community by maintaining a presence in industry-based or community-based organizations.
- Consistently demonstrate initiative, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to achieving organizational objectives with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating, design, or management of HVAC projects, with experience managing projects ranging from $50,000 to over $100 million.
- Proven ability to operate independently and autonomously while achieving supervisor-outlined goals.
- Strong sense of integrity and professionalism in all business dealings.
- Demonstrated experience in developing new business opportunities in the MEP construction sector.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to a high volume of project-related issues.
- Valid class "C" driver’s license and the ability to drive a vehicle as required for project site visits.
