Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in an acute care setting.
- Ensure adherence to best practices, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patient conditions, recognizing potential or life-threatening crises and distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings.
- Plan and implement individualized nursing care based on patient assessments and clinical guidelines.
- Administer prescribed medications, start and discontinue IVs and blood transfusions, and manage PCA pumps and epidural infusions.
- Prepare for and assist physicians during examinations and treatments, including wound care and dressings.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment such as mechanical ventilators, defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors.
- Make regular rounds, evaluate patient status, answer questions, provide instructions, and record vital signs in accordance with documentation policies and standards of care.
- Educate patients and family members on treatment plans, procedures, and at-home care requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to coordinate care and ensure seamless transitions during patient handoffs.
Salary & Benefits
- Compensation is structured to comply with all applicable Federal and State regulations, including Area Wage Determination (AWD) tables under the Service Contract Act (SCA).
- Base rate: $59.50 per hour, with additional premium rates discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted RN license or registration as a professional nurse from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience within the last five years providing nursing care for adult patients in an acute care setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical disorders, diagnostic procedures, and treatments related to adult and geriatric patient care.
- Proficient in the use of medical equipment and supplies relevant to acute care nursing.
