Medical Director, Primary Care Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) to lead our outpatient primary care clinic in Louisville, KY. As a mission-driven and physician-led organization, we are committed to transforming healthcare delivery for seniors and those with complex health needs. The Medical Director, Primary Care, will play a pivotal role in guiding clinical teams, enhancing care quality, and advancing our mission to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare to our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the primary care team, including physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), ensuring delivery of value-based care to a senior patient population.
- Manage a small patient panel (60-90 patients), focusing on seniors with multiple chronic conditions (3-5 chronic diseases), and ensure personalized, comprehensive care.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists such as cardiology and podiatry, and integrate holistic health services including acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition into patient care plans.
- Oversee daily clinic operations, including patient scheduling, workflow optimization, and maintaining a positive work-life balance for clinical staff.
- Participate in and lead training initiatives such as PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director Essentials, Leadership Pathways Program, and sessions on medical economics and center financial performance.
- Support and drive clinic sales and growth initiatives in partnership with operational leaders.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards, fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in the recruitment, development, and mentorship of clinical staff to build a highly skilled and compassionate care team.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience preferred; strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
