Medical Director, Primary Care (MD, DO) Overview

As a Medical Director, Primary Care (MD, DO), you will have the opportunity to lead clinical teams, champion value-based care models, and directly impact the lives of seniors with complex health needs. This full-time role is based in Richmond, VA, offering a rewarding work environment where clinical excellence and leadership are prioritized.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
- Oversee a manageable patient panel of 60-90 individuals, primarily seniors with multiple chronic conditions, fostering strong patient-provider relationships and continuity of care.
- Implement and optimize value-based care initiatives to improve patient health outcomes and organizational efficiency.
- Participate in the development and execution of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and operational workflows.
- Engage in leadership training programs, including PCP Black Belt Training, Center Operations, and the Leadership Pathways Program, to enhance professional growth and organizational impact.
- Coordinate with in-house consulting specialists and holistic health service providers, such as cardiology, podiatry, acupuncture, and nutrition, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership on practice growth, medical economics, and center financial performance goals.
- Support patient access by facilitating transportation and ensuring an inclusive, supportive care environment.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a closely related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to effectively guide clinical teams and contribute to organizational success.
