The Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) is a key clinical leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of high-quality, value-based primary care services in an outpatient setting. This position is ideal for board-certified or board-eligible physicians with expertise in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine who are passionate about transforming care for seniors and leading multidisciplinary clinical teams. The Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) will play a central role in ensuring exceptional patient outcomes, fostering a culture of excellence, and mentoring providers and staff in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
As the Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO), you will guide a small, manageable patient panel, focusing on seniors with complex health needs, typically managing three to five chronic conditions. You will lead a team of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure the highest standards of care and patient satisfaction. The role also includes participating in ongoing leadership development and operational training programs designed to enhance clinical, administrative, and business acumen.

Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Summary
- Leadership position managing an outpatient primary care clinic

Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily clinical operations of the primary care center
- Provide direct patient care to a panel of seniors with multiple chronic conditions
- Lead, mentor, and develop clinical staff including physicians and nurse practitioners
- Implement value-based care initiatives and quality improvement strategies
- Collaborate with in-house specialists in cardiology, podiatry, and other disciplines
- Coordinate holistic health services such as acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition counseling
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards
- Engage in clinical and operational training, including medical economics and center financial performance
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and patient-centered culture

Qualifications & Requirements
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting
- Leadership experience preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed
