Medical Director – Primary Care Position Overview
The Medical Director – Primary Care (MD, DO) is a key clinical leadership role within our physician-led, mission-driven primary care organization. This full-time opportunity is focused on providing high-quality, value-based care to a senior patient population in an outpatient setting. As a Medical Director – Primary Care, you will help shape the future of primary care delivery, supporting both patients and clinical teams in achieving the organization's mission to honor seniors with affordable, VIP care that results in better health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the primary care center, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient satisfaction.
- Manage and mentor a team of primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Maintain a small patient panel, typically between 60 to 90 seniors, with a focus on those living with multiple chronic conditions.
- Implement and promote value-based care models, optimizing clinical outcomes and resource utilization.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including participation in leadership pathways, PCP Essentials training, and financial performance programs.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and organizational policies, maintaining compliance with clinical standards and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists and support holistic health services such as acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition counseling for comprehensive patient care.
- Contribute to the center’s growth and performance through involvement in medical economics, sales initiatives, and operational excellence projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a closely related specialty.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting; prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to manage clinical teams effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with technology in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as part of center operations and leadership responsibilities.
