Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) for a full-time, outpatient leadership opportunity in Cincinnati, OH. This position offers the chance to lead a physician-led, mission-driven organization focused on delivering high-quality, value-based care to a senior patient population. The Medical Director – Primary Care role is ideal for clinical leaders passionate about transforming primary care and improving health outcomes for patients with complex needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage a small primary care patient panel, typically ranging from 60–90 seniors with multiple chronic conditions.
- Lead and support a team of Primary Care Physicians (PCP) and Nurse Practitioners (NP), fostering a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
- Implement and monitor value-based care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and clinic performance.
- Coordinate with in-house consulting specialists such as Cardiology and Podiatry to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Facilitate holistic health services, including acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutritional counseling, within the clinic setting.
- Ensure effective clinic operations, including patient scheduling, workflow optimization, and quality assurance.
- Participate in ongoing leadership training programs covering medical director essentials, center operations, financial performance, and leadership development.
- Engage in strategic initiatives to promote clinic growth and improve care delivery models for the senior population.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine (IM), Family Medicine (FM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in primary care, geriatrics, or family practice settings.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with navigating electronic health records.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as necessary.
Employment Type
This is a full-time position based in Cincinnati, OH. The standard clinic schedule is Monday through Friday, with clinic hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the last patient appointment scheduled at 4:15 p.m.
