Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) – Full-time – Memphis, TN
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) for a full-time leadership opportunity in Memphis, TN. This role is ideal for a board-certified or board-eligible physician in family medicine, internal medicine, or geriatric medicine who is passionate about delivering high-quality, value-based care to a senior patient population. The Medical Director, Primary Care provides clinical leadership within a mission-driven, physician-led organization committed to transforming healthcare for underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the clinical operations of an outpatient primary care center serving adults and seniors, with a focus on value-based care.
- Manage and mentor a team of primary care providers (PCPs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Supervise a small patient panel of 60–90 individuals, primarily seniors with multiple chronic conditions, ensuring the highest standards of medical practice and patient safety.
- Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, including clinical protocols, operational workflows, and patient engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists in cardiology, podiatry, and other disciplines to enhance multidisciplinary care offerings.
- Engage in leadership programs, including PCP Black Belt Training, PCP Essentials, and pathways for ongoing professional growth and development in center management and medical economics.
- Participate in organizational planning for sales, growth, and financial performance at the center level.
- Support patient access to holistic health services, such as acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition counseling.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a closely related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting; previous leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as required.
