Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director – Primary Care (MD/DO) for a full-time leadership position in an outpatient setting in St. Louis, MO. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced physician with a passion for value-based healthcare and a commitment to serving the senior population. The Medical Director – Primary Care will lead a team of clinicians, guide patient care strategies, and contribute to the ongoing development of a mission-driven, physician-led organization. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage clinical operations within a primary care outpatient center, ensuring excellent patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee a team of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a small patient panel, with a maximum of 60-90 patients, focusing on seniors with multiple chronic conditions.
- Implement and support value-based care models that prioritize patient outcomes and holistic health services.
- Coordinate in-house consulting specialists, including cardiology and podiatry, as well as holistic health services such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, yoga, and nutritional counseling.
- Participate in leadership training and ongoing education programs, including Medical Director and Center Operations, Medical Economics, and Center Financial Performance.
- Engage in the Leadership Pathways Program and contribute to the growth and success of the primary care center.
- Promote efficient clinic operations, patient satisfaction, and positive health outcomes.
- Ensure the delivery of transportation services to patients in need, enhancing access to care.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with current Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead clinical teams and drive initiatives in a value-based care environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to navigate electronic health records.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
