Medical Director – Primary Care, MD/DO Job Overview
Our organization is seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director – Primary Care, MD/DO for a full-time, outpatient primary care setting. As a physician-led and mission-driven practice, we focus on delivering comprehensive and value-based healthcare to seniors. The Medical Director – Primary Care, MD/DO will play a pivotal leadership role, guiding clinical teams and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes. This role is ideal for a board-certified or board-eligible physician with a passion for geriatric medicine and primary care, who seeks both purpose and professional growth within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily clinical operations of the primary care outpatient center, ensuring that patient care standards are consistently met.
- Manage and mentor a team of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), cultivating a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Work with a small patient panel of approximately 60-90 senior patients, focusing on those managing three to five chronic conditions.
- Implement and uphold value-based care practices to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with in-house consulting specialists in fields such as cardiology and podiatry, as well as professionals providing holistic health services, including acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutrition support.
- Participate in and lead ongoing training and professional development programs, including PCP Black Belt Training, Medical Director and Center Operations courses, and leadership pathways initiatives.
- Monitor and improve clinic financial performance, including involvement in sales and growth strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards guiding patient care and clinical operations.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; leadership experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as needed.
