Medical Director, Primary Care Position Overview
The Medical Director, Primary Care (MD/DO) is a key clinical leadership role within a physician-led, mission-driven primary care organization dedicated to serving seniors through comprehensive outpatient care. This full-time opportunity in New Orleans, LA, focuses on delivering value-based care to a diverse geriatric population, and offers the chance to lead a team committed to improving health outcomes for seniors with multiple chronic conditions. As the Medical Director, Primary Care, you will be instrumental in managing clinical operations, mentoring providers, and contributing to the organization's ongoing mission to honor seniors with exceptional, affordable healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for a small panel of senior patients, focusing on those with three to five chronic diseases in an outpatient, primary care setting.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team, including primary care physicians (PCPs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), ensuring high standards of clinical quality and patient safety.
- Implement and oversee value-based care models to enhance patient health outcomes and satisfaction.
- Participate in, and sometimes facilitate, training programs such as PCP Black Belt Training, PCP Essentials, and Medical Director and Center Operations to foster continuous professional development and clinical excellence.
- Engage in leadership development through structured pathways programs, focusing on medical economics, center financial performance, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with in-house specialists, including cardiology and podiatry, as well as holistic health providers offering services such as acupuncture, tai chi, yoga, and nutritional counseling.
- Ensure high-quality, coordinated care by partnering with other healthcare professionals and supporting patient access through door-to-door transportation services.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine (FM), Internal Medicine (IM), or Geriatric Medicine.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a geriatric or family practice setting is required; prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel locally and occasionally regionally as part of the role.
