Medical Assistant (MA) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake, including measuring vital signs, reviewing medications, and obtaining brief patient histories
- Perform basic medical office procedures such as EKG, spirometry, ear lavage, and administration of medications and immunizations
- Refill medications following office protocols
- Communicate test results to patients under physician instruction
- Submit prior authorizations and specialist referrals as required
- Keep examination rooms clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Complete medical forms accurately and promptly
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Answer phones professionally and provide excellent customer service
- Check in patients and assist with billing procedures as needed

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential (required)
- Minimum two years of experience in a primary care or internal medicine practice preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems; Nextgen experience is a plus
- Strong computer skills and the ability to type efficiently
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be vaccinated for COVID-19
