Medical Assistant (MA) Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant (MA) to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting both clinical and administrative functions to ensure optimal patient care and efficient workflow within the clinic. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with excellent multitasking abilities and a passion for delivering quality healthcare services. Working as a Medical Assistant (MA), you will be at the forefront of patient interactions, contributing to a positive patient experience while supporting physicians and other healthcare professionals with essential tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Manage clinic patient flow by informing physicians of patient arrivals and coordinating room assignments to maximize efficiency.
- Accompany and assist patients in the exam room, ensuring a professional and compassionate approach throughout all interactions.
- Obtain and accurately record patient vital signs, such as height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration. Utilize manual equipment or Welch Allen spot vital sign machines as required, and promptly import results into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures, providing necessary support and anticipating needs to facilitate smooth clinical operations.
- Collect patient medical history when applicable, in accordance with department protocols, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Perform a variety of diagnostic, testing, and screening procedures, including but not limited to strep tests, flu tests, rapid COVID-19 tests, COVID-19 PCR, HA1C, EKG, and spirometry, following established guidelines and ensuring patient comfort.
- Clearly explain test procedures to patients, addressing questions and concerns to promote understanding and cooperation.
- Administer vaccines to patients as directed by physician orders, verifying eligibility for vaccination and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Utilize medical terminology and demonstrate knowledge of common medications relevant to the clinic setting.
- Address patient concerns directly or coordinate communication with other healthcare facilities as necessary, ensuring all interactions and outcomes are thoroughly documented in the EMR.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of patient exam rooms, stock supplies as needed, and notify the supervisor when inventory is low or equipment requires maintenance.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or in a similar clinical support role is highly valued.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and general medication knowledge is preferred.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation and patient data management.
- Ability to operate standard medical equipment for vital sign measurement and diagnostic testing.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to ensure positive patient interactions and effective teamwork with clinical staff.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
