Medical Assistant (MA) Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) for a full-time position. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing high-quality, competent, and compassionate care to patients, supporting both clinical and administrative functions to ensure the seamless operation of our healthcare practice. This role requires a professional who can work independently, demonstrate strong critical decision-making abilities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. The practice environment is supportive, and the culture encourages a family-oriented approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform both front and back office duties as a Medical Assistant (MA), including greeting patients, checking them in and out, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Support the front desk by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Assist with patient intake, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
- Ensure patient records are accurately maintained using EPIC EHR, following all privacy and confidentiality protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and office staff to deliver comprehensive care and maintain a welcoming, organized office environment.
- Demonstrate excellence in customer service and organizational skills, contributing to a positive patient experience.
- Utilize insurance knowledge to assist patients and staff with billing questions and insurance verification as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Medical Assistant (MA) or similar clinical support role preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and independent decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a focus on customer service.
- Experience with EPIC EHR or similar electronic health record systems.
- Basic knowledge of medical insurance processes and patient billing is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- CPR certification preferred.
