Mechanical Project Manager - Summary
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will provide overall management direction for individual projects or groups of projects. Your core duties will include procuring equipment and subcontracts, monitoring job costs, maintaining billing and schedules, and providing technical support to field teams. You will also serve as the communication bridge between clients and teams, maintaining long-term customer relationships and ensuring customer expectations are met or exceeded. Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the management and execution of multiple mechanical and plumbing construction projects, ensuring each is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Procure necessary equipment and subcontracts while negotiating terms that support project objectives.
- Monitor, analyze, and project job costs accurately to support financial objectives and avoid overruns.
- Maintain comprehensive billing processes and project schedules, coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to field teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Oversee daily production activities with superintendents, ensuring smooth workflow and timely problem resolution.
- Develop and nurture long-term relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and ongoing communication.
- Ensure each project meets quality standards, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Review project estimates and verify accuracy of entries into job cost systems, confirming initial estimates reflect project realities.
- Organize and lead pre-job and ongoing planning meetings with project teams, ensuring thorough understanding of contract terms, schedules, and project requirements.
- Document meeting outcomes and follow up on action items to guarantee project alignment.
- Develop and update detailed project schedules, accommodating scope changes and resource adjustments as needed.
- Monitor and adjust personnel schedules to meet evolving project needs.
- Establish and execute buy-outs for subcontracts and equipment to support project schedules and budgets.
- Conduct daily visits to job sites or onsite offices, performing work inspections and resolving any issues as they arise.
- Investigate and address project issues, implementing corrective actions promptly.
- Manage and process changes in project scope, ensuring all changes are documented and integrated swiftly.
- Complete material takeoffs and provide estimates and pricing for any changes to the work scope.
- Organize and attend meetings in accordance with client and company requirements, sharing updates and resolving concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience managing mechanical construction projects required; renovation experience is advantageous.
- Strong negotiating skills, especially in construction change orders and project presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex, multi-dimensional problems using effective problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze contractual documents, technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency in technical and business letter writing.
- Experience with computerized job cost accounting systems.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of financial models used in various contracting approaches such as fixed price, cost plus, and unit rate/price contracting.
- Physical ability to navigate and inspect active construction sites, including negotiating hazards and uneven surfaces.
- Flexibility to be on-call as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support project needs.
- Ability to conduct daily site visits for progress checks, inspections, and meetings.
