Mechanical Project Manager - Summary
The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle of mechanical construction projects. The role includes collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, developing project schedules and budgets, ensuring safety and quality standards, and delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations. The Mechanical Project Manager is a key leader who drives project success, fosters teamwork, and represents the organization in all project-related matters.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with executive leadership, estimating teams, field operations, and stakeholders to define project scope and execution strategies.
- Facilitate pre-construction planning meetings and develop comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and cost-control measures.
- Establish clear project objectives, procedures, and performance expectations for the project team to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Monitor all phases of project progress, providing regular updates and reports to leadership and stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and proactively communicate potential challenges to management for timely resolution.
- Conduct regular meetings with field personnel to ensure project productivity, alignment, and effective communication.
- Support Project Engineers and assume their responsibilities in their absence to maintain project continuity.
- Assist in workforce planning and contribute to labor strategy discussions as required.
- Represent the company in meetings with clients, subcontractors, and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee project financials, including tracking costs, preparing forecasts, and submitting project billings.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices, and partner with purchasing teams to manage procurement and equipment buyouts.
- Adopt effective leadership strategies to maximize team performance and project outcomes.
- Take on additional assignments as directed by senior leadership to support company goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5–8 years of direct experience managing commercial or industrial plumbing/mechanical construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction practices, engineering concepts, and modern project delivery methods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Navis Freedom, COINS, or similar project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure compliance with company processes and standards.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods at a desk, lift up to 15 pounds, review printed and digital documents, and access construction areas such as ladders, trenches, confined spaces, or attics as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively in environments with elevated noise levels and to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting job sites.
- Manual dexterity to handle and manipulate small tools or equipment as required.
