Mechanical Project Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading mechanical general contractor in Los Angeles, CA. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting and ensuring the successful execution of plumbing and HVAC construction projects. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and BIM departments to coordinate critical project activities from planning through completion. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in all phases of plumbing and HVAC construction projects to ensure objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with field supervisors to address project needs and provide consistent communication between office and field teams.
- Participate in project meetings to stay updated on progress and relay important information to relevant team members.
- Maintain and update project logs to ensure accurate record-keeping and project tracking.
- Assist in the pricing and processing of change orders, working alongside the Project Manager to address any project modifications.
- Handle all aspects of RFIs (Requests For Information) to facilitate clear communication between design and construction teams.
- Support submittal and procurement processes to streamline the flow of materials and information necessary for project execution.
- Engage with the BIM (Building Information Modeling) department, attending coordination meetings and supporting digital project management efforts.
- Download and distribute project files and manage incoming responses from the design team, ensuring all relevant parties are informed.
- Assist in developing man-loading charts in collaboration with foremen and superintendents for effective workforce management.
- Ensure timely submission of documents and deliverables to the contractor as required by project timelines.
- Contribute to project projection processes by gathering and analyzing relevant data with the Project Manager.
- Perform general administrative support such as printing and copying project documents as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management, construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Alternatively, equivalent experience in plumbing or mechanical systems will be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project for documentation and project tracking.
- Ability to listen carefully, follow directions, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Desire and ability to contribute within a collaborative team environment while learning and growing professionally on the job.
