Mechanical Project Engineer Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading mechanical general contracting firm in Riverside, CA. This is a full-time opportunity for individuals who are passionate about mechanical construction, project planning, and engineering excellence. The Mechanical Project Engineer will play a critical support role in the successful execution of plumbing and HVAC construction projects, working closely with project management and field supervision teams. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in the direction, planning, execution, and financial oversight of mechanical construction projects, primarily within plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Support field supervisors by coordinating project logistics and addressing site requirements as needed.
- Participate in project meetings to ensure alignment between stakeholders and project teams.
- Maintain and update project logs, ensuring accurate and current documentation at all times.
- Prepare and price change orders in conjunction with project management directives.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), coordinating with the Project Manager to ensure timely and accurate responses.
- Assist with submittal processes and procurement activities, ensuring all documentation is complete and deadlines are met.
- Work collaboratively with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) department, attending BIM coordination meetings as necessary to support project goals.
- Download, organize, and distribute project files and updates to all relevant team members.
- Track and manage responses from the design team, ensuring effective communication and distribution of information among project stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of man-loading charts in collaboration with foremen and superintendents to ensure appropriate resource allocation.
- Ensure all submissions to contractors are delivered accurately and on schedule.
- Assist the Project Manager with project projections, supporting financial and scheduling forecasts.
- Perform administrative tasks such as printing and copying as directed to support overall project efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Management, or a related field. Candidates with relevant plumbing or mechanical systems experience may also be considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project for documentation and project tracking.
- Ability to listen attentively and execute instructions with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
- Demonstrated desire to work in a collaborative team environment and a willingness to learn on the job.
