Mechanical Project Engineer Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Project Engineer to join a high-performing team with a leading mechanical general contractor in San Diego, CA. This is a full-time opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about supporting the successful delivery of mechanical construction projects, including plumbing and HVAC systems. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in assisting project management and field teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in all phases of mechanical construction, with a focus on plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with and assist field supervisors to facilitate effective site operations and project execution.
- Attend project meetings to provide input, gather information, and coordinate on project requirements.
- Maintain and update project logs to ensure accurate documentation of project progress and issues.
- Evaluate and price change orders to ensure all modifications are tracked and processed in a timely manner.
- Manage all aspects of Requests for Information (RFIs) in partnership with the Project Manager.
- Assist in the submittal and procurement processes by coordinating with vendors and subcontractors as needed.
- Work closely with the BIM (Building Information Modeling) department, participating in BIM coordination meetings to support accurate project planning and execution.
- Download, organize, and distribute project files, drawings, and documents to relevant team members.
- Manage and distribute design team responses to ensure all stakeholders are kept informed and projects remain on track.
- Assist in developing man-loading charts in collaboration with foremen and superintendents to optimize resource allocation.
- Ensure that all submissions to contractors are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Support the Project Manager with project projection processes, including financial and schedule tracking.
- Perform printing, copying, and other administrative tasks as required to support the project team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Management, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Experience with plumbing or mechanical systems, or a background in mechanical or business disciplines, is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project for efficient document management and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, follow through on instructions, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
