We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to join a highly successful mechanical general contractor located in San Diego, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in all phases of plumbing and HVAC construction projects, ensuring efficient project direction, planning, and completion.
- Collaborate with field supervisors to maintain smooth project operations and timely task completion.
- Attend project and BIM coordination meetings as necessary to facilitate team communication and project alignment.
- Maintain and update project logs, ensuring all records are current and accurate.
- Assist with the pricing of change orders and handle Requests for Information (RFIs) in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Participate in the submittal and procurement processes, supporting the timely acquisition of project materials and approvals.
- Download and distribute project files to team members, and manage communications with the design team to ensure information is shared promptly.
- Help develop man-loading charts in cooperation with foremen and superintendents to optimize project staffing and scheduling.
- Ensure timely submission of required documentation to contractors and other stakeholders.
- Assist in project projection processes, providing necessary data and analysis to the Project Manager.
- Perform printing, copying, and other support tasks as directed to help maintain project workflow.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction engineering management, construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience in plumbing or mechanical systems will also be considered.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, along with the ability to learn and use new project management software as needed.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to follow instructions and execute project tasks accurately.
- Demonstrated desire to work collaboratively in a team setting and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
