Mechanical Project Engineer - Summary
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing various aspects of mechanical and HVAC construction projects. This includes collaborating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest industry standards. The role calls for a strong foundation in HVAC and plumbing systems, project scheduling, cost control, and technical troubleshooting. The Mechanical Project Engineer will also actively participate in the procurement of equipment and materials, as well as the preparation of project documentation and progress reports. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform detailed project estimating, including take-offs and cost analysis, to support accurate bid preparation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules, including manpower planning and resource allocation.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely resolution of design and construction queries.
- Prepare and review submittal packages, working closely with contractors to manage the flow of technical data and product information.
- Support data entry and population of project management forms, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate and prepare project progress billings to maintain positive cash flow and accurate financial tracking.
- Assist with technical analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for HVAC air equipment, piping equipment systems, and plumbing equipment.
- Leverage knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system operation, commercial and industrial construction sequences, and industry standards to ensure project success.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline (Civil, Industrial, or Structural); or at least 5 years of industry experience as a Construction Project Engineer.
- Demonstrated experience with project administration, scheduling, productivity analysis, and project cost control accounting.
- Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design, system operation, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE data and guidelines for HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project for project scheduling, and experience with MS Access or other database programs.
- Strong skills in MS Excel and Word, with above-average proficiency in internet research and organizational tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle and archive technical data effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
