Mechanical Project Engineer Job Overview
We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Beverly Hills. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in managing and supporting a variety of construction and mechanical engineering projects, with a focus on commercial and industrial environments. This position involves overseeing project phases from estimation through completion, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Conduct project estimating, including quantity take-offs and cost analysis, to support accurate and competitive bids.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, including manpower allocation and resource planning, using tools such as MS Project.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely and accurate communication across project teams and stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive submittal packages for client and contractor approval, and manage the flow of contractor-supplied submittal data.
- Assist with the population of forms and documentation needed for project administration and compliance.
- Prepare project progress billings to support timely and accurate invoicing and financial tracking.
- Support technical analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for HVAC air equipment, HVAC piping, and plumbing systems.
- Collaborate with design, field, and administrative personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design and system operation, as well as commercial and industrial construction sequences.
- Experience with construction estimating and understanding of testing procedures for HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE data and guidelines.
- Proficiency with MS Project scheduling software, MS Excel, MS Word, and internet-based research and communication tools.
- Experience with MS Access or other database programs is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with above average organizational abilities for managing and archiving technical data.
- Recommended education includes a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline (such as Civil, Industrial, or Structural Engineering), or at least five years of industry experience as a Construction Project Engineer.
- Demonstrated experience with project administration, scheduling, productivity analysis, cost control accounting, and equipment and material procurement is highly valued.
