Mechanical Estimator (Plumbing/HVAC Estimator) - Summary
- Oversee all estimating activities for plumbing and HVAC/mechanical construction projects.
- Support business development by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities.
- Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with business goals.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with industry partners.
- Provide key support from project assessment through execution and closeout.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain communication with Pre-Construction Departments to identify new project opportunities aligned with business objectives.
- Review project plans, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts to fully understand project scope, costs, and potential risks.
- Utilize computer-based takeoff and estimating systems for accurate and consistent estimates.
- Support the sales process, including scope development, client engagement, presentations, negotiations, and closing opportunities.
- Assist in preparing budgets for project kickoffs and priced change orders.
- Participate in kickoff meetings to present project scope, work plans, budgets, and any special requirements.
- Monitor project progress, compare actual production rates to bid assumptions, and help develop corrective action plans as needed.
- Assist with preparing project forecasts, schedules, and claims when necessary.
- Support productivity tracking and participate in weekly staff meetings to review scope deviations and production rates.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plumbing and/or mechanical estimating.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with Trimble Autobid or similar sheetmetal/piping estimating software.
- Field or craft experience is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of plumbing, piping, ductwork, and equipment installation.
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing, piping, and sheetmetal codes and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience with HCAI projects considered a plus.
