Mechanical Estimator – Industrial (MEP Estimator) - Summary
- Full-time position focused on mechanical estimating for industrial sector projects.
- Based in Los Angeles, CA, supporting a wide range of industrial projects including power plants, refineries, and water treatment facilities.
- Responsible for providing thorough, accurate, and profitable estimates that align with company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly contact Pre-Construction Departments of targeted General Contractors to identify and pursue new project opportunities.
- Evaluate project opportunities to ensure alignment with the company’s business model and profit objectives.
- Review all project plans, P&ID’s, specifications, and contracts prior to estimate preparation to identify potential impacts.
- Operate computer-based take-off and estimating systems to ensure consistency and reproducibility of results.
- Assist in selling projects by developing scopes of supply, participating in presentations, and supporting negotiations and closings.
- Support Project Managers with budget preparation for initial project setup and any priced change order work.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to present scope of work, work plans, budgets, and any unusual requirements or limitations.
- Monitor project progress, compare actual production rates with bid rates, and assist in productivity tracking of labor units.
- Assist in preparing project forecasts, claims, and schedules as needed.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings to identify scope deviations, monitor production, and forecast future work.
- Help develop alternate plans to recover projects where performance does not meet budgeted expectations.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating mechanical systems in industrial markets such as power plants, refineries, or water/wastewater treatment facilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
- Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of related experience, field or craft experience, understanding of piping and equipment installation, and a bachelor’s degree in construction management or mechanical engineering.
